Break the Roof
A wider roof with parts that break, a redrawn K.O. card, a Menu with Forfeit in live fights, and more gear.
The notes
The roof got bigger and easier to wreck, the end-of-run card was redrawn, and the people in a live fight got a proper way out.
Added
- A wider roof with parts that break. The roof is a screen and a half wide and the camera follows the fight. Both walls break, and so do the crates, the pillars and the middle parapet. Some floor sections give way, and a weak platform drops you if you stand on it too long. Stones and bottles now stop on crates and pillars, and a fast one breaks a crate.
- A K.O. card you can read at a glance. The score, your board place, your rank and Rep, the Impact Frames you landed, best combo, K.O.s, secrets and how far you got are all pictures first, with the words as small captions. The card slams open and its parts land in turn.
- “What they learned.” The bottom of the card says it plainly: “They’ve learned DASH → DASH PUNCH. Mix it up.” Each string you landed gets a verdict (They know it, Catching on or Still fresh), how often you landed it and how often they read it, and a “knew it already” tag when the run began knowing it.
- More gear. Sal’s rings, Red high-tops and Patent loafers, each with its own sound and sparks.
- An emblem for each way you fight. The Gauntlet card shows your style as a small printed emblem and one word. Point at it for the full read.
- A live ping number in a fight against another player, so you can see how the line is.
- An “Enemy health” setting. The pips over enemies are hidden unless you turn it on, under Settings, Screen.
Changed
- The first waves come faster. More men from wave 1, and they drop in sooner.
- A live fight has a Menu button, not a pause button. The fight keeps going underneath. Forfeit is in the Menu and asks once, and the other fighter is told plainly that you quit.
- A forfeit pays the winner half a win. The one who leaves still loses in full.
- One seat per account in a room. The same account can’t sit twice in one lobby, on the Back Room or in Home Turf.
Fixed
- The K.O. card counts the Impact Frames you landed instead of always reading your top style.
- Words on the K.O. card no longer run over their boxes.
