Two on a Roof
Versus arrives: quick match, rooms by code or QR, and ranked fights that pay. Teo gets a guard, the Story gets comic pages, and the game gets its home.
The notes
The day the game stopped being a one-man show. Two people can fight on the same roof now, and Teo has learned to stand properly.
Added
- Versus. Two fighters, one roof, and the first K.O. takes the round. Quick match finds you someone, or you make a room and share its five-letter code or a QR. Teams balance as people join, the host sets first to 3, 5 or 7, and everyone else in the room watches the same fight.
- Ranked quick match. A win against another signed-in player moves your rating and pays Marks for every round and for the match, with a daily cap. Every round is played again by the server before it counts, and walking out is a loss.
- Comic pages. Each act of the Story opens on a drawn page in the game’s own print: panels opening one at a time, Nina’s texts arriving in red, sound words stamped in, an ink wipe to turn the page. Clearing wave 10 plays the ending, and wave 11 comes anyway. Settings can show the pages the first time, always, or never.
- The new look. A new logo, cut by one hit, and a new line: HIT. FLY. REPEAT. The site at impactframe.app opens with the same cut, and the game is at /play/.
- Sound out. A browser cannot tell headphones from a phone’s speaker, so you say: Auto, Headphones or Speaker.
Changed
- Teo fights from a guard. A wide base, soft knees, the lead fist at chin height and the other by the chin, kept up through the idle bounce, the run, the dash and every jump. Punches go out straight. In the air, K is a flying side kick, and down and J drives a fist straight down.
- A charge earns its risk. Starting one lets off a burst that shoves close enemies out of reach, and for the first moments a hit hurts but cannot break it. It builds in three stages, with cracks, a heartbeat, a darker world and a camera push, and MAX lands with an inverted frame.
- The menu scarf is cloth. It swings with the push-ups and pull-ups, twists as it hangs, and ends in a frayed hem.
- Phones turn sideways and stay there. Full screen locks landscape, the buttons are icons in a thumb arc with punch biggest, and pushing the stick up jumps.
- A phone’s speaker finally plays the music. The mix was built for headphones and the speaker could not play most of it. It is about 10 dB louder in the menu and 7 dB in a fight, and the bass is heard again.
