They Remember
The Gauntlet's enemies read how you fight and answer it, two new men join them, and the climb is stretched.
The notes
Mash one move and the Don’s men notice. The enemies now keep a note of how you fight, and the Gauntlet leans toward the ones who can answer it.
Added
- The enemies read you. Repeat a move and a ? appears over an enemy’s head, and a counter rises on screen. Use it a few times and they will be ready for it.
- The Plated. The estate’s guards in stab vests, from wave 11. Light hits glance off with no flinch and half the damage. A charged heavy, a low hit, a juggle, a downed hit or a ring-out gets through.
- The Baiter. A club boxer from wave 13 who feints a wind-up with no warning mark, more the more you repeat a move, and punishes the dodge.
- The wave director. From wave 4, the second wave of each cast turns some of its men into the kinds that answer your style, and the wave card says what they noticed, like “they saw the mashing”.
- They remember between runs. The way you fight is carried into your next Gauntlet run, so the men may already know your favourite string.
Changed
- A slower Gauntlet. A new kind arrives every second wave (Dasher 3, Stick and Brute 5, Thrower 7, Machete 9, Plated 11, Baiter 13), and the wave after brings the same cast in a new mix. Wave 6 now plays like the old wave 4, and the top of the curve is reached later.
